The Community Vision is proud to announce our second Annual Community Facilities Challenge, which will launch January 23. The Community Facilities Challenge is an exciting partnership with California State University, Fresno that will benefit students and the community alike. This year we are pleased to announce Comerica Bank as our 2013 Sponsor.
The Community Facilities Challenge is an innovative, collaborative program, which includes student groups of undergraduate student teams from three departments at FSU: the Lyles College of Engineering; the Craig School of Business; and the Department of Art and Design. The students will be asked to prepare a full-scale real estate feasibility analysis of a community facility project, including a financial analysis, preliminary design concepts, engineering review, construction schedule, and other relevant components.
This year, we’ve chosen Poverello House, a homeless social service agency in Fresno as the project site. Poverello House is planning to build a new campus at their existing site, comprising of six new buildings. Each student team will conduct a feasibility analysis on one of the proposed buildings. The students final presentations will take place on April 24 before an esteemed panel of judges that include:

The Community Facilities Challenge poses an exciting opportunity for both students and Poverello House. Students will benefit from participating on an inter-disciplinary team in the early planning and development of a needed project in Fresno, while gaining valuable “real-world” experience. Poverello House will receive a full-scale feasibility analysis for their proposed renovation/construction project to assist them with their future plans.
We are very pleased to be able to offer this hands-on career development experience to Fresno State students, and are very excited about sharing this program with each of you.
