Founded in 1959, Mission Neighborhood Centers, Inc. (MNC) provides a continuum of programs to low-income children and their families, youth and seniors at eleven sites throughout San Francisco, reaching approximately 3,000 children, youth and seniors annually. MNC operates thirty-six programs, which are primarily funded through contracts with the City and County of San Francisco, and Federal programs.
Because the organization relies on these government-funded reimbursement contracts, MNC’s cash flow is often strained at the start of its fiscal year when the new contracts are being processed and reimbursements are delayed. In order to minimize the impact of funding delays for its Youth Program, the organization received a $260,000 line of credit from Community Vision.
The Youth Program is a vital resource for high-risk youth in the Mission District. Many of its clients are from low-income and/or immigrant families and are at high risk of dropping out of school, being victims or perpetuators of violence, falling into the juvenile justice system, or becoming teen parents. The Youth Program provides GED preparation classes, case management and family support services, a summer job-training program, and a home detention program. A line of credit from Community Vision is critical in preventing any interruption to the services Mission Neighborhood Centers, Inc. provides in its Youth Program.
The programs Mission Neighborhood Centers, Inc. deliver are vital to the communities they serve. Community Vision is proud to be able to provide the financial support they need to continue in their mission.
