Daniel Hlad

At Community Vision we’re committed to the places where we live and work. We encourage our staff to be directly involved with their communities – from volunteering with local, direct-service organizations to serving on boards and committees. It’s integral to our work that our staff are directly involved in our communities and take leadership positions to share knowledge and develop partnerships.  Some recent community involvement includes:

Daniel Hlad, Director of Development and Communications, has lived and worked in and around San Francisco’s South of Market (SOMA) neighborhood for 15 years. Last month he was appointed to the SOMA Community Stabilization Fund’s Community Advisory Committee. The SOMA Community Stabilization Fund strengthens the community and promotes equity through strategies that mitigate the impact of development. The group works to ensure that those most vulnerable to displacement (low-income individuals, families, small businesses, nonprofits, community arts groups, and educational institutions) are able to work, and prosper in the neighborhood.

Joanne Lee, Director of Consulting, and Saul Ettlin, Nonprofit Real Estate Consultant, sit on the Advisory Committee of the Nonprofit Centers Network (NCN).  NCN increases the capacity and effectiveness of the nonprofit sector by supporting the development and operations of multi-tenant nonprofit centers and quality workspaces for nonprofits.

Esperanza Pallana, Program Associate, was appointed to Oakland’s Sugar Sweetened Beverage Community Advisory Board last month. In November 2016 Oakland voters approved the 1-cent per ounce tax on the distribution of sweetened beverages, including sodas, sports drinks, sweetened teas, and energy drinks. Following this win, the Advisory Board was established to make recommendations to the City Council on funding programs that prevent or mitigate the negative health consequences associated with consuming sugar-sweetened beverages.
