Community Vision is excited to welcome Wil O. Mendoza as our Vice President of Finance. Wil is an accomplished professional with over twenty-seven years of experience in the financial services industry with extensive professional experience in finance including areas such as commercial, surety, and consumer underwriting, client portfolio management, supervising & training personnel, and sales & acquiring relationships.
“I’m very excited to be stepping into this role at Community Vision,” said Wil. “There are so many BIPOC-led nonprofits and social enterprises doing tremendous work. They are often working in communities with a history of divestment and displacement and that financial resources are too often out of reach. That is what brings me to Community Vision, to do what I can to uplift local communities by partnering, providing guidance, training and lending vehicles so that they can not only stay in their communities but also thrive in achieving their mission.”
In this role Wil will join Community Vision’s leadership team and contribute to the organization’s strategic goals. He will oversee accounting, including developing the organization’s budget, maintaining the organization’s financial statements, managing cash flows, and ensuring appropriate disbursements and servicing for loans and grants disbursed by the organization.
Previously, Wil worked as Amethod Public School’s (AMPS) Director of Finance and Accounting. AMPS is a non-profit charter school system in the Bay Area serving underserved communities with a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum and character development program.
Wil grew up in San Francisco and currently resides in the East Bay. He enjoys reading, supporting local sports, the outdoors, and traveling the world.
He holds a B.A. degree from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from St. Mary’s College of Moraga, a California brokers license, and is a committed community leader focusing on education, empowerment, and shared equity.
